Phd candidate Hoyon Mephokee published the blog post "The many faces of otherness in France métropolitaine: The curious case of the ‘Boule de Siam’ (1894)" in Human Ties: Stories in the Humanities, the blog of the Center for the Humanities. The content of the blog post comes out of his dissertation research, which focuses on the colonial cultures and technologies of France and Francophone Asia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with a particular emphasis on cross-cultural contact between France and Siam.
