Nicholas Macchione

Ph.D. student Nicholas Macchione is originally from Leominster, Massachusetts. His research focuses on the history and material culture of the ancient Mediterranean and the relationship between narrative and artistic representation. He graduated from the Università di Pavia with a master’s in the interdisciplinary program The Ancient Mediterranean World: History, Archaeology, and Art, writing a thesis entitled “The Iconography of Etruscan Underworld Gods.” Nicholas has participated in archaeological excavations across Italy, including several sites in the territory of Pavia, and on the island of Stromboli. Previously, he earned bachelor’s degrees in history and music at Assumption University in Worcester, Massachusetts.
